Week 12     14-19th May

Making wooden toys
Task 1

For the wooden toy task i decided to make a tank. I chose it because I love any thing to do with the military. I used a plane to cut the wood then make the tank. I then used the dropsaw quite a bit to cut the wood then glued it all together. It only took a couple of weeks to finish it as we had carpentry twice a week.

Task 2

Write a paragraph to review your project:

1) How successful was your project?

My project was successful because i finished it on time which was in under 2 weeks. i also knew it was a success because It turned out how i had planned it. The base and the turret made it look like a real tank.

2) What went well?

Painting it went well because I had a clear design of how I wanted to paint it and i was able to achieve this. The colour scheme was a matte black finish. The black colour suited a military vehicle.

3) What could you have done differently, to make it more successful?

To make it more successful i could have taken more time to put more detail in the wood and paint work. this would include treads on the wheels and a  camouflage paint scheme.

4)Was the choice of toy the right one for the time available?

The choice of the toy was a right one at the time because i believed that it would appeal to boys around the ages 2-5 years.

5) Overall, how successful was the group at making their toys?

The group was successful because they finished their projects on time.

  • First we got newspaper and wet it, then layed it around on the ground ( covering the dirt so that no weeds can grow ) and we got wheel barrows full of white pebbles and scattered them all around the newspaper. the final result is awesome. later on we carved out names and burnt ( if you want) into small planks of wood. I had "Jai" on one side and the other side was the "DICE" logo  from Battlefield 3 ( a video game ) theres the logo to the right>>
